With colder months approaching, burst pipes are more common for this time of year. Make sure to check all of your pipes for freezing. You can leave the cabinet doors open for those really cold nights and days on exterior walls, which will allow heat in your home to transfer to these areas. Make sure to keep any chemicals or cleaners out of reach of children and pets. You can also cover exposed pipes with foam insulation. Most local hardware stores have this in stock. Make sure no water hoses are connected to the outside spigot as this will cause your pipe to burst sending water into your home.
Make sure to clear leaves and debris from your gutters. With the amount of rain, we get during the winter months. The gutters need to be able to drain properly or it will come into your home causing damage. Also, when snow does present itself, the gutters need to function properly when the snow begins to melt.
